Time took each one, time took them all
Time was their gift, time brought their fall
It seemed so slow, with years to spare
They had decades, no need for prayer
But on one day, they came to know
Too late that all would have to go
They did not ask, they did not find
So never found real peace of mind
They knew not why they’d come at all
They never even heard the call
Their’s was the life, the chance to be
And do and have and hear and see,
And dream of what is not yet seen
Instead of all that might have been
You do not know what time remains
Nor as you age, the aches and pains
So seize this day, tomorrow too
